Ethan is five months old today! I say it every month, but time sure does fly. A friend had her first baby this week and I told her to enjoy every moment because it passes so quickly - that's the same advice so many gave to me and I thought they were nuts, or at least I thought they meant the years pass quickly. But in fact, the small moments pass so quickly. I feel like I've blinked and my baby is rolling over, has two teeth (look closely in the picture and you can see them!) and is starting to eat real food!
Life is getting pretty busy as it's getting easier to take him places now. We went on our first "vacation" to North Conway, New Hampshire this month. He slept in the pack-n-play for the first time and did great! His dad wanted him to try skiing, but mom said no. She spoils all the fun. Next year!
We started feeding him cereal and sweet potatoes. I don't think he knows that it is actually food, but rather just a new game that we've decided to play with him. It's much more fun to smush the food around rather than lick it off the spoon!
One not-so-fun milestone is that he seems to have forgotten how to sleep! We've been spoiled by a baby who has been sleeping through the night since 6 weeks. We were so impressed by how easy the transition was from the rocker to his crib. Now, however, he seems to have forgotten everything! I'm not sure if it's the teething, the learning new movements, the growth spurts, the new foods, the time change, or most likely all of the above, but it's definitely been an adjustment. Good thing he is so gosh darn cute, that he makes up for it.
My next long update will be six months - wait, what???!? How?!!! Stay tuned!
