Freezer to Slow Cooker Meals

So on my first official day of "modified bed rest," what did I do?  I cooked all day!  Well, not really, but I "prepared."

For $150 and 3 hours worth of work (including food shopping), I have 10 freezer meals ready to go.  Each meal is really 3 portions, so I'm hoping they will last for at least one dinner and maybe a leftover lunch the next day.  The key to making this work was being organized.  I also did this shopping trip separate from my normal weekly trip so I could just focus on exactly what I needed.  If this works out, I'm thinking about making this a monthly routine.

37 Weeks!

On Friday, September 20th, I was officially 37 weeks (full-term!) and my body was officially done with working.  My doctor suggested a modified bed rest to get me off of my feet.  Who was I to argue?  I never knew teaching was such a physically demanding job - emotionally demanding, sure, but I never thought about the toll standing all day takes on your body.

My To-Do List for this week:

  • REST!
  • Plan and prep a few week's worth of freezer-to-crockpot meals for when Baby Bloch arrives (not sure if living on Cinnamon Toast Crunch is totally healthy...)
  • Read a book - and not a baby one!
  • Find a new TV series to get into while resting - a few people have recommended "Orange is the New Black" on Netflix

Nursery = Done (well, except for baby!)

I have a sneaking suspicion that the nursery is more for me than the baby - but oh well!
I always thought I'd do the traditional pastel blue and farmyard animal theme when I had a baby, but once I started decorating it was very apparent that wasn't me.  Plus, my husband pretty much refused anything that wasn't "manly."  (He's only a baby, Mike...)  We went with a gray-navy-green theme with sports and star accents.  I love the way it turned out and the best part is, it's a room he can grow into.

(Don't be fooled - if I ever am blessed with a baby girl, the entire thing will be pastel pink.)

The bags are packed!

Those who know me know one of my biggest weaknesses is packing.  I am a terrible packer and should probably go to a support group for this, it's that big of a problem.  I go away for one night with a minimum of 10 different outfits and a bag that wouldn't meet the weight requirements on an airline.  I'm not delusional - I know I won't need all that stuff - but I'm a lady who likes to have her choices.

Imagine my stress when I realized I needed to have a hospital bag, diaper bag AND dog bag packed and ready to go a month ahead of time - but it's done and we're ready to go!  The car seat base is also installed in both cards and Mike swears his bag is packed (though I've yet to see it...)
