7 Months & My First Mother's Day

Our boy is 7 months old today!  I feel like I just wrote his 6 month post - I am starting to worry that I'm going to wake up and be putting him on the school bus before I know it!

It's hard to remember what life was like before Ethan came along.  It's Saturday night - we started to wind down from the day at 7pm...I cleaned the downstairs while Mike went to the grocery store...now I'm typing fast to get this done so I can be in bed by 10pm!  I'm sure we'll get some nightlife back at some point, but to be honest, this feels good.

Ethan has four teeth now and we are putting them to good use by trying new foods every week.  He has chicken every night for dinner.  We've given him carrots and mangoes - orange foods seem to be the most popular.  He started eating Puffs cereal that he can pick up all by himself and put in his mouth.  Last weekend I got adventurous at a restaurant and shared my fish & chips with him.  It was inevitable that he would like french fries seeing how many I ate while I was pregnant!

As much as having teeth is fun, breaking them through is NOT.  We lost some of our good sleeping habits but things seem to be back to normal now...until the next tooth!  I think there should be some kind of reverse tooth fairy for moms - every time your baby breaks a new tooth, mommy gets a present!

We've had some fun day trips and play dates this past month.  We've been to Newbury Street, Rockport, Gloucester and Boston College...we saw the marathon runners as they made their way up Heartbreak Hill...we've had many picnics...we've swung in the park...now we're anxiously awaiting consistent warm and sunny weather so we can keep up with our adventures!

The most exciting thing that's happened this month is that we started taking SWIMMING lessons at the Y!  As soon as I stepped foot in the pool area, a wave of emotions hit me as I fondly remembered taking swimming lessons when I was younger.  Of course, Ethan can't do much and I have to hold him the whole time.  But he loves the water and has gone down the baby slide a dozen times already!  He is the youngest in the class by a whole year but seems fearless.  I hope to have some video to post soon of my little fish.

Tomorrow will be my first Mother's Day.  Last year at this time we revealed if we were having a boy or a girl to our moms.  This year, my little boy is thriving and bringing so much joy to everyone around him (most of the time - he gets cranky in social settings!).  I can't help but think about all the strong women in my life who have inspired me to be the mother I am turning into...I am so grateful to all of you for being my role models and for continuing to inspire me.  I spend many moments each day trying to be the best mommy I can be.  It isn't always easy and I'm very appreciative to have a supportive husband who gives me breaks and calms me down when I'm feeling overwhelmed - but I know it's the most important job I'll ever do.

Happy Mother's Day to all!

April 2014

April was an awesome month!  Besides the dreary weather, we had lots of fun with Red Sox Opening Day, Marathon Monday. Easter Sunday and hitting a few more milestones like sitting up and eating chicken!
