I've cried my share of happy tears these past few days as I reflect on the past six months. I can't believe this sweet nugget has already been here for half of a year. (Also, how come my pregnancy seemed to dddrrraaagggg on and on forever, but these months have flown by?!)
Ethan so badly wants to be a big boy! None of this baby nonsense. The major milestone that happened this month is that he can sit up all by himself now! It has opened up a whole new world for him. He can independently play for long stretches now, picking up and manipulating objects that you put in front of him. He loves his Jumperoo from our friend Nancy and sometimes it seems like he's going to jump right into space he can go so high! He can use the big boy stroller now and see everything that is going on around him. He pets Brady lovingly then makes a sour face every time Brady goes to lick him. We're working on teaching Brady not to lick, but it's a losing battle. He watches the Red Sox with Daddy and we finally got him some Red Sox gear because all of the clothes he had are too small! Now that he can sit up he sits in a real highchair at the restaurants, which means that mommy & daddy finally get to go out to dinner again (he hated sitting in the car seat!)
We switched pediatricians and feel really good about our decision. He was the hit of the waiting room, flirting (smiling) with anyone who spoke to him! He weighs 18 lbs. and 6 oz. and is 27 inches long! Forget 6 month clothing - he is wearing 12 months already!!!
He is an eating machine! We started solid foods at 5 months but it was only recently he really started to enjoy it. So far he loves: cereal, sweet potatoes, avocados, bananas, apples, pears and peas! I thought the peas were gross but he enjoyed them! The doctor said we could give him meat next - Abe & Louie's, anyone??? His grandmothers taught him how to feed himself but forgot to teach him how to clean up afterwards. At least he looks cute while making the mess!
His social group is quickly expanding. We started Mommy & Baby Yoga and celebrate the great workout with a yummy lunch with our new friends Michael, Cameron and of course, Parker! We had our first picnic in the park with all of our friends. Now that the spring has finally (sort of) sprung, he loves his weekly walks with Parker and he even swung on a swing in the park! We are learning new songs in our new baby group like "Ram Sam Sam" and "I Had a Pony." His most favorite part of that group is the bubbles! He is fascinated by trying to pop them and it calms him down immediately. He loves having visitors over to his house although he is not such a big fan of large family gatherings (neither is Mike - ha!)
I love re-examining the world through his eyes. The simplest things, like watching a car go by or picking up a block, is so fascinating for him and I love experiencing all of it with him. Ethan, you bring us so much joy everyday!!! What will be our next adventure?
