Best. Gift. Ever.
Christmas has always been such a magical time of the year for me. My parents worked hard to make sure it was always special and full of traditions. Last Christmas Mike and I couldn't help but think, "wouldn't it be nice to have a child to share in all this Christmas magic?" One year later, we were blessed with our wish.
Ethan is too young to know what Christmas is (although he probably wondered why his mom kept dressing him up in silly outfits and taking lots of pictures). However, that didn't stop us from starting some of my favorite traditions with him. He got a new pair of Christmas jammies on Christmas Eve. He got a new picture book with his own special message. And of course, his own ornament for the tree.
We were fortunate enough to see all of my family in 48 hours - fortunate, exhausted - same difference. Besides all the thoughtful and fun gifts that he received, my favorite gift was seeing all of my family get to hold him. Some got smiles, most got cries - but no matter what, it will always be a Christmas to remember.

Two months!
He had his two month check-up this week and the doctor was so impressed with his progress. He weighs 13 pounds and is 24 inches long - he's in the 90th percentile for length! Must take after his really tall parents - wait...oh well, we're still proud!
He is changing so much everyday. The biggest change (and blessing!) is that he's now sleeping for 8-9 hours at night. The first night he slept was after the Patriots-Broncos game and we thought he was just doing his parents a favor since we got home so late. But every night since he's slept at least 7 hours, and lately 9. I think he must be storing food in those big cheeks of his to get him through the night.
He is so smiley and makes new sounds everyday. He loves to coo and gurgle and have "conversations." His attention span is getting longer and he is starting to "play" with (stare at) toys now. He loves looking at the lights on the Christmas tree and listening and dancing to music. His current three favorite songs are "Best Song Ever" by One Direction, "Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus and "Sure Be Cool If You Did" by Blake Shelton. (sorry, Dad, he got Mom's taste in music). He can put his hand to his mouth on purpose but hasn't quite gotten the hang of grabbing objects yet. The doctor said to make sure we never leave him unattended on the bed or changing table because he'll be rolling over any day now!
Hopefully I'll start having more time to post - the trade off for sleeping long at night is that he doesn't nap much during the day! Plus, we've been busy getting ready for a magical first Christmas!

Giving Thanks
There was so much to be thankful for this year. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. We have always hosted it at my mom's house and I grew up with so many great memories. Last year I remember thinking that it would be so wonderful to have a little one around by next Thanksgiving, but didn't really think it would be possible. Fast forward a year later and he's here!
The cousins took him to the "rock" at the park for our traditional picture - hopefully next year he'll be able to climb it with the girls!
